Mail troubles atop the flu

Just a quick note to all that in the middle of having a pretty horrible 4+ day flu, apparently my main mailbox has actually hit it’s size limit, and my ISP has been rejecting messages. Apologies to all, although I can’t be sure when I’ll be feeling well enough to actually read the messages I have gotten. Sigh.

Now to figure out how to get ezmlm to send back the bounces it claims it couldn’t get through (now that I’ve pruned and copied locally a ton of stuff).

Head’s Up: ApacheCon US CFP opening soon

Yup, you heard it here first: the call for paper submissions for ApacheCon US – this coming 3-7 November, in lovely New Orleans – will open soon. Just as soon as we dot the t’s and cross the i’s, and then run a script to swap them. Announcements will be posted to the usual channels.

Look, up in the sky!

A giant snake is swallowing the moon! We’re all doomed – doomed, I say!

Wait! There’s a priest here who claims he can wrestle with the snake, and force it to give the moon back. It will take him some time – just enough time for us to bring all the gold we have in the village to him. Quick, quick, grab all the sacks you can and bring him the gold!

Seriously, it definitely gives you some perspective about the world. Who cares about that deadline, just how much does cleaning up after dinner tonight really mean, when you can see something as wonderous as a sky truly full of stars, and the dark side of the moon?

iPhone features iWant to see

Well, it’s an eternally in-progress list, so I’ll post it as a separate page and ask for discussion (or ideas) over here as a separate item.

I have kowtowed to the evil Apple conspiracy and bought a “compatible” headset/headphone for my iPhone, which I do like, non-standard thin plastic barrel notwithstanding. Otherwise I’m happily on 1.1.3, still in jail to reduce the worry factor. Still waiting eagerly for the SDK to come out, and for just a few key apps to get built. The default items are all good, but several could really use updates to be great, and there are a host of fairly simple things I’d love to see be native (instead of having to find someone’s website to do the work for you).

Testing… one two, one TWO

Is this thing on? Have you ever noticed how the really good sound guys (well, at least at smaller venues) only need to count to two when doing a sound check? Sure they count a few different times, but they seem to get enough out of “testing”, “one”, and “two” to set the basic vocal mic levels.

It also reminds me of two dollars owed to John Cusack in Better Off Dead, which I was thinking of from watching the ever classic Say Anything tonight.

Which leads me to ask: what 1980′s movie ends with the girl on the ship, leaving for the continent, with the guy on the pier madly trying to get her to stay. It ends with the two of them jumping off and swimming to each other. I know it’s something similar, but can’t figure it out. Thanks.
